Air Miles & Rewards Calculator
Calculate the dollar value of your airline miles or credit card points, how fast you’re earning them, and how long until a free flight. Compare two cards side by side for your specific spending habits.
A Chase Sapphire point is worth ~1.5¢ redeemed for travel. A Delta SkyMile is worth ~1.1¢. That gap adds up to hundreds of dollars a year on the same spending.
"The difference between a 1¢ and 2¢ redemption on 100,000 points is $1,000. Choosing the right card and the right redemption method matters more than how many points you earn."

How points value works
Every rewards program has a cents per point (CPP) value — how much each point is worth when redeemed. Cash back typically yields 0.5–1.0¢. Travel portal redemptions yield 1.0–1.5¢. Transferring to airline or hotel partners can yield 2–5¢ or more in the right situation.
The gap matters enormously. 75,000 Chase points redeemed for cash back = $750. The same points transferred to Hyatt for a hotel stay could be worth $1,500–$2,000+. The program’s true value is determined by how you redeem, not just the earn rate.
Annual fee math: A $95 fee card earning 3x on dining vs. a no-fee 1.5x card generates 1.5x more points per dollar. At $400/month dining: 720 extra pts/month = 8,640/year = ~$130 extra value at 1.5¢/pt — minus the $95 fee = $35 net gain before signup bonuses.
Rewards FAQs
What are transfer partners and why do they matter?
Chase, Amex, Citi, and Capital One let you transfer points to airlines and hotels, usually 1:1. A Chase point transferred to United or Hyatt can be worth 2–5¢ depending on the redemption. This “sweet spot” is what makes premium-cabin international flights accessible at economy-class point costs.
Do airline miles expire?
Delta, United, and American miles don’t expire with account activity every 18–24 months. Chase and Amex points don’t expire while your card is open. Southwest points expire after 24 months of inactivity. A single small purchase resets the clock on most programs.
What is the best card for earning miles?
It depends on your spending. For dining-heavy spenders, Amex Gold (4x dining, 4x groceries) is hard to beat. For general travel, Chase Sapphire Preferred (3x dining, 2x travel) earns the most flexible points. For simplicity, Capital One Venture earns a flat 2x on everything with easy redemption.
